### Any advice on managing two Spanish dialects in the household?
Now that our world is more interconnected than ever, there are plenty of families where each parent could be from a different country in Latin America, with distinctive dialects, vocabulary, slang, and culture. This diversity provides kids with a broadened perspective and helps them learn to communicate cross-culturally, which is a positive outcome. Sometimes they may switch vocabulary based on who they are speaking with, which demonstrates flexibility rather than confusion.

### What do you recommend if I’m not completely fluent?
I encourage as much Spanish exposure as possible. Use the Spanish you know, even if you may need to speak Spanglish. This approach provides your child with practice opportunities. Utilize resources such as apps, books, and music to strengthen your child’s language skills, and remember that they will learn English outside the home; give priority to Spanish within the family.

### Do you recommend teaching different subjects in different languages?
Yes, it can be effective to teach specific subjects in Spanish, while allowing English to dominate areas they will encounter at school. This helps introduce vocabulary that children may not learn in casual conversation or during classes.

### How can my child learn language through play?
Encourage pretend play where prompts and props spark imaginative scenarios. This not only helps with social skills but also augments cognitive skills and vocabulary acquisition in a fun, engaging way.

### What are some strategies for raising bilingual children?
1. **Start early**: Babies learn languages more easily due to their rapidly forming neural connections.
